This story has left me scratching my head a tad. Yes it is a good addition to the general discussion about food contents, but is this the best way to handle the communications? Will this kill the market for these products? Why not work on new recipes? Or is this a new trend to create a category of 'occasional' foods? Time well tell.
The company behind Dolmio and Uncle Ben's sauces says some products should only be consumed once a week due to high salt, sugar or fat content. Mars Food said it would distinguish between "everyday" and "occasional" items on packs and website. The company said some foods were higher in salt, sugar or fat to maintain the "authentic" taste of products.
